About Recording Industry Professionals

Recording Industry Producers organize all aspects of recording music. Many operate in the traditional way of working with performers in a recording studio with the assistance of a sound engineer. The work of a record Producer may include: selecting music and contacting musicians, identifying music with commercial potential, setting the budget and recording schedule, negotiating and signing contracts with performers and with the artists and repertoire (A&R) departments of music publishers or record companies, engineering the recording, delivering the product to the A&R department of the company, all within budget and on schedule.

Sound Engineers usually work in recording studios making high quality sound recordings, mainly for the music and entertainment industry. They are able to operate complex electronic equipment to reproduce music, dialogue, sound effects and other audio content to the highest quality. A Recording Engineer will set up the performersÕ equipment and instruments in the studio, set up and manage the sound levels. They may record directly onto a computer and often use specialized computer software. A Recording Engineer often has a musical background, as well as experience in sound recording, editing and mixing.

Session Musicians are acccomplished professional instrumental and vocal musicians who are hired by film composes, conductors, music directors and producers to record music for albums, film, tv and gaming industries. They need good sight reading skills and experience in the styles of music they record.
